About Bob Gerding
New Mexico's Ambassador to the Outdoors, Bob Gerding, continues to inspire hunting and fishing enthusiasts to enjoy and experience the wonders of Wild New Mexico. Since 1972 Bob has been pursuing his passion for fishing and hunting be it teaching fly fishing and fly tying classes or working as a member of the Recreational Committee for the Villes Caldera Trust to being on KRQE news broadcast to answer live questions about fishing in New Mexico.
A tireless promoter of New Mexico’s outstanding natural landscapes for outdoor recreation and conservation, Bob hosts his popular “Bob Gerding Outdoor Adventures Hunting and Fishing Show” annually at the NM State Fairgrounds. 2008 marks the 10th anniversary of this popular show which has grown to 100 Exhibitors and an attendance of over 6000. Bob guides, helps promote and, along with his brother, acts as Masters of Ceremonies for the San Jan River Bi-Fly Tournament held for the past 14 years to benefit the Four Corner’s Home for Children to name just one avenue of his extensive involvement with charitable organizations and events.
In March of 2007 Bob was inducted into the UNM’s Anderson School of Management’s Hall of Fame which recognizes alumni for their professional success, contribution to the community, and ongoing commitment to education.
Bob can be heard on KZRR 94 Rock Thursday mornings at 8:00 giving a live fishing report and promoting hunting and fishing in New Mexico.
Bob can be both seen and heard on KRQE News 13 between 12:15pm and 12:20pm on Wednesdays to answer live questions about fishing in New Mexico.
Bob contributes articles for local and regional publications as well as authoring “A Practical Guide to Fly Tying” and along with Bill Black wrote “Troubleshooting the Trout” where they shared their combined 100 years of fishing experiences.
